ok so i'm thinking i am going to update my cpu one more time before i get rid of this mobo. any ways i was thinking i don't want to spend a lot of money on a new proc just yet cause i really want to start saving for a e8500, but my mobo doesn't support 45nm's so i said i think i'll take a look at the pentium dual core line. so what i'm asking is would i see a jump in performance from my pentium d 940 to a pentum dual core. or should i just save the 60-70 bucks and throw that towards a new mobo. i think i can get my dad to get me a biostar p45 mobo for Christmas.

it is currently on sale at tigerdirect for 59 as well. but the nearest micro center is about 1.5hr away. and 59 is half way to a e8500 but my mobo doesn't support the new 45nm procs.

The E1200 at stock speeds won't be faster that your current CPU

Even E2180 is not much faster unless you overclock it

The E2180 is a good cpu. I run mine at 2.8ghz 24/7 on stock voltage and have had it up to 3.33ghz for benchmarking. I got one with a bad vid (1.325) so you might be able to do better than that.
