I'm planning to buy a monitor that has DVI and VGA output. I have a 7600 gs graphics card that supports both vga and dvi inputs.

My first question is: Will the DVI output show "better" quality than the VGA output?

Second: Should I buy the dvi-d male to dvi-d female or male to male?

Thanks!

Did you mean the monitor has inputs and the card has outputs? Cause from what you said it looks backwards. If your monitor supports DVI input, then yes digital video is better than analog video. Also just out of curiosity what monitor are you getting?

Yes you are right. I was thinking the wrong thing, but now it makes sense.

And in which ways is digital video better than analog video? Will there be a noticeable difference?

I plan to either get the:

$230: Scepter 22", 2000:1 contrast ration, 1680x1050 native resolution, 2ms, 300 nits, (tomorrow)

$250: Soyo 24", 1000:1 contrast ratio, 1900x1200 native resolution, 6ms, 500 nits (Black friday)
