I recently received a dell dimension 9150 as a gift. It is a couple of years old, not bad, upgradeable (although already a bit out of date!)

The owner lost the login and password, but I was planning to reload the op system anyways. But in the bios I noticed the boot option menu cannot see the dvd drive, only the cd drive. I'm thinking that any op install discs I can get would be dvds.

Is there a reason why the dvd drive is not a boot option? Could it be that it is not the master drive on the ide? Is there a way to add the dvd drive to the boot option menu?

Also I've heard there is a utility that can be used to dig out the old username and password. Is it worth the trouble!
