He's a well known computer modder.

Not sure if he particularly does any hardware modding but he's done really interesting case mods and other projects such as embedding an lcd in a mouse.

MetkuMods - Because you love your hardware!

What's special about him is that he presents all of his projects from stage 1 to finish.

He also turned an lcd to a cooler lcd.

There's also an led backlit he threw on that lines the screen's glass edges.

mini-itx.com - projects - cool cube

That's pretty darn cool.

So back on topic, any other suggestions for achieving what I wanted?

I think the first reply answered my question though.

I'll try to salvage an lcd from a car's video/audio system.

Something other than eBay.

Would I be purchasing a separate mechanism for the slider?

Not as cool. >.>

I might take something meant for cars, do you think their regular lcd screens would work? The ones that aren't just for the audio system and actually shows movies?

What's a c2d? I searched up commel, and figured those are mobos.

A C2D is Intel's best processor, and currently the best processors out. It stands for Core 2 Duo.
