how bout we just help this guy get what he wants. I think 7600gt will play ccs with about med to high settings. Or you could get the 7900gs or the ati card which is better.

or wait for the 9series and 7 series will be much cheaper and 8 series cheaper but obviosly not as cheap as the 7 series

well i got my 7900gs for 100 after 50 dollars in rebates.

I would just upgrade the mobo so you can get pci e cards.

I just skipped a few posts but, to nickm..
What do you consider maxing out? What resolution? Because I can tell you right now, with my 3700+ @ 2.97 ghz, 1gb of DDR494 2-3-3-6, 7900gs @ 612/1814 I cannot max BF2 at 1280x1024 and sustain decent FPS's, so I think you may be mistaken.

i have a XFX 7600GT xxx series maxes out Css on 1024X768 and everything high along with antialising and that other bs lol.

The source engine is very aged, its like what 3+ years old now? It doesn't demand that much power, my ati x800 xl 256mb agp can pretty much run CS:S maxed out too at decent FPS.
