Indeed...I have a 6800GT and the card literally comes within a few milimetres of the fan blade, but it's fine...you can even switch your SLI jumpers and use the other PCI-E slot if you are afriad of obstructing the chipset cooler

BIOS choices...this really only comes into play if you are serious about overclocking, specifically when it comes to RAM compatibility...I recently flashed to the updated 710 BIOS and my memory was able to clock higher because of it...generally DFI ships the most recent BIOS availible with the board and the only cases where you would need to flash a BIOS would be to add core support such as 90nm process size or multicore identification
