okay, i have a Lanparty UT Ultra-D mobo. it has Lan1 and Lan2 on the I/O. what is the purpose of these??

if you wnat to use ics where your computer acts like a server to share internet connection is the most common use of 2 nics. I use my second to connect to another comp with gigabit ethernet as well as my router.

that's freeking sweet. so i have internet comming into LAN1, if i get a cable going out of LAN2 i can give something else internet?

It really has no use for the kind of enviroment this motherboard would be used in at all.

yeah you can share your internet connection. its a bit of a pain. I find it much easier to get a router.
