Default Desperately need help.. i7 build

Hello everyone. I joined because I've been reading and there's a lot of people with much more extensive knowledge than i, so please help me. It's been 10+ years since i've built a computer and truly am lost. I've compiled a somewhat list, but don't even know if that's everything i need. I would like to keep this rig under $1000, so please if the things i added seem to be excess or overkill please suggest where i can cut the corners. Thank you in advance for those who chimed in. It is much appreciated, you guys have no idea.

* I forgot to add a heatsink, but have no idea where to start =\ *

Just for sake of convenience I added your build up. It comes to $1247.93 not including shipping.

You could certainly save a lot on the case, but I would go with something in the $100 range, and grab a deal that ships free, shipping on those cases can get expensive. Newegg also frequently sells 1TB HD's in the $50-$60 range. Just check their daily deals there is usually something weekly. You may also be able to find a deal on power supplies, and look at motherboard combos, there are usually quite a few. Here are a couple examples:
This combo saves you $45
This combo save you $30 with no changes to the hardware.

ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe
Intel Core i7 2600k
16GB DDR3 G-Skill Ripjaws
1TB 7200 Segagte Drive
eVGA GeForce 570
Samsung Blu-Ray Drive
Antec 850 Watt PSU
Windows 7 Professional

For a decent i7 build you'll have to spend more than that... for under $1000 you should consider a i5 build or a AMD build.

ASUS P5P77D :: INTEL i5 750@3.6 GHz :: Asus HD4890 :: 4GB Gskill Ripjaw 1600MHz CL7 :: WD Black 1TB :: SSD OCZ Vertex2 60GB :: Corsair 750TX :: LG L204WT :: Windows 7 x64

<<<<<<<<<< If you think I've been helpful in anyway rep me :p

I agree with farinha, really an i7 build should be above a grand, anything less and you might as well go i5.

I'd suggest trading your current CPU pick for an i5 750. You're already saving $100 there.

This memory is cheaper than the Corsair Dominators and they have faster latency timings. - Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 998679
