Default Dell Inspiron 8100 Upgrades

I'm hoping to upgrade the current amount of RAM (512mb) up to a gig. However in my research I've found that the maximum amount of RAM is 512mb. Is there a way around this, or am i simply allowed to go well over it?

nope ur stuck.... because ur laptops BIOS can't read anymore than that....
