Talking DELL HELP (warning long winded)

Hi all, I'm sure some of you might know of me from my other posts. I am trying to upgrade my pc (Which is a DELL XPS GEN4) It actually is pretty rocking minus a few things. AWE MAN.. I just found out the 4gigs I put in in RAM, Only shows 3 gb? Is there a legit fix for this? XP PRO 32bit SP2 - does not support 4gbs I have seen some work arounds but I guess it causes unstable drivers.
