what do you think of the dell ultrasharp displays?

would that be a good all around display

19". Trust me on that. You can never have too much desktop real estate.

I don't like Dell computers, but I only hear good things about their LCD monitors. For gaming, get a 17". The reason is, you want to run the LCD at its native resolution, and 17" inch's native resolution is 1280x1024 I believe. Any higher than that in games (19" monitors or larger) will be more stressful on your computer, and cause lower framerates. LCD's visual quality decreases when ran at non-native resolutions.

Edit: Well.. if you have a real good computer, then maybe go for 19". But just remember, as newer games come out, and your computer gets older, having to run them at high resolutions may kill your performance and make it essential to upgrade more often. Just my 2 cents.

the 19" has the same pixels at the 17" so would it be ok to get the 19 or would the picture quality be lower? because its the same pixels but more screen?

EDIT:

I run most of my games at 1024x768

the native resolution for the monitor I just bought is 1280x1024

so... If I want my games to look crisp clear and magnificent I have to run them at that higher resolution

but my computer is getting old and newer games won't run as well in high resolution (need to lower the settings, etc...)


but, I decided to get a larger monitor (made sure it had DVI) sort of future proofing myself
(my next pc will probably be a bit more powerful than the one I have now)

what do u mean by "shiny"?

To answer your question i would get the 19"(http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...1&cs=19&l=en&mnf=694&Page=productlisting.aspx), or if you have the extra cash go for the 20" widescreen(http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...8&cs=19&l=en&mnf=694&Page=productlisting.aspx)

I am/was considering the same monitors, but i would rather get the 20" (duhh) if i have the money......

So, get the 19" if you can't splurge for the 20"W!

I have a 19" ultrasharp and I love it. I had 19 dell crt prior and was hesitant to switch but I LOVE it.

I dont not recommend the 19 inch 2007 fp. I recently bought this monitor and it was terrible. I had a line of dead pixels. Games look bad and seems to ghost. Also dvd playback looks fuzzy. Pictures and imagaes are. It looks nice and styleish but dont let that fool you. The 19 inch has gotten bad reviews as well. So dont make the sam mistake I did.
