Default Is this a decent gaming laptop?

Hi, just a quick question and I hope I'm in the right place. Apologies if not.

Is this a decent gaming laptop?

Also, would it be easily down gradable to win7?

Intel Core i5-4200H
6 GB
GeForce GTX 760M
Microsoft Windows 8.1

It doesn't have to be able to play things on ultra, just as long as it plays most things on low/medium settings and doesn't melt!

Thanks in advance

Here's benchmarks for that GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M - NotebookCheck.net Tech

It's a decent system - mostly depends on what games you're going to be playing. Just note those benchmarks are a basic guide - you can play on higher resolutions (like 1080p) if you customize the settings rather than just using the default "Low/Medium/High/Ultra" settings.

And honestly, why downgrade? Might as well just keep Win8... going to be more of a hassle to downgrade anyway (plus you'll have to purchase a Win7 license). That said - there should be drivers for everything; difficult part may be getting manufacturer's software working on it.

Win 8 owners get 10 for free next year. Might as well keep it as I can assume you'll like 10. It's the going trend with 7 and 8 people.

Thanks for the info.

What do you mean manufacturer's software? Do you have an example?

Thanks again.

For example, my MSI that I have:MSI Notebook Official Website | G Series - GT70 2OC-059US Gaming Notebook / Laptop

There's a Keyboard Light Manager, software to control the touch-functions of my quick-access bar, and a few other utilities. They make versions for both Win7 and Win8, but not all manufacturers may provide updated software for both OS's.

Rumored, but not yet officially confirmed. If they don't do free upgrades, I can see them doing the big discount like they did with Win8 when it was released.

Hmm, just found this:

According to the Indonesian news site Detik.co, Andreas Diantoro, the president of Microsoft Indonesia had ‘confirmed’ that ‘Windows 9′ (now named Windows 10) will be a free upgrade for all Windows 8 users.

For now I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Would be nice though - would mean I would get multiple copies of 10 for free.
