Hi again!

Ok, I have decided to try my G2020 in a security rig until I can find a good deal on a 3570k or a 3770k. I also found a new Corsair CX430M sitting around in my inventory so I thought I would give it a shot [purchased it 3-4 months ago for only $15 new].

I had to remove the Corsair Vengeance RAM because they are too tall.

Which of the following RAM would work best, or does it even matter?

Kingston HyperX Red KHX16C10B1R/8 8GB Memory Module - 1600MHz, 10-10-10, DDR3, CL10, 1.5V, Unbuffered

Or,

Patriot Signature Line 2X4

By filling only one slot with 8GB, will my system use less power?

And what about the Kingston Hyper X CL10? Is it much different than CL9? Do you foresee any problems if I use this RAM?

Thanks,

Soar

PS Here's my rig with some of the newer parts I would like to install

Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Mini-ITX Computer Case
Intel G2020 Ivy Bridge
ASRock DDR3 1333 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboards (B75M-ITX)
2-Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm x 25mm Fan - 1850 RPM case fans
Modified ARCTIC COOLING A7P-75000023 92mm CPU Cooler [will shave/mill 5/8" off the top]
Corsair CX430M
Intel 160GB SSD
Seagate 4TB HDD

It honestly doesn't matter speed or timings wise. They won't make a difference.

Theoretically each stick will take 1.5v, so 1 stick will be 1.5v less than two. Won't make much of a difference in total wattage so either way you want to go.

Ok, I read the ASRock manual and it has some interesting info:

If you install only one memory module or two non-identical
memory modules, it is unable to activate the Dual Channel
Memory Technology.

So here is my question: If I install one 8gb stick rather than two 4gb sticks, will it only work on single channel and will this effect performance/

Thank you,

Soar

Is there a performance difference between single and dual channel?

i.e. will a single 8gb performance be less than two 4gb in dual mode?
