DDR3 2000. I've read a lot about DDR3, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for...

I've found multiple articles comparing DDR3-800 up to DDR3-1600. Single vs dual vs tri channel. Lower latency lower clocks vs relaxed latency and higher clocks. The only articles I have found that have to do with DDR3-2000 are the 2GB and 4GB kits that were out when the 790i was the big gun. I understand DDR3-1600 is the sweet spot for those who want to overclock and it offers good latency/speed. However, you can get DDR3-2000 @ 8-8-8 for a a good amount more than 9-9-9-30, and you can pick up 9-9-9-30 DDR3-2000 for not a lot more than DDR3-1600.

My question is, have any of you used 1866 or 2000 in your rigs? Would using DDR3-2000 @ 8-8-8 or 9-9-9 generally yield any benefit what so ever over DDR3-1600? I have noticed tighter timing DDR3-1333 performing better than looser timing DDR3-1600 in some games, but I haven't seen any benchmarks with DDR3-2000. I thought since it's clocked significantly higher than 1600 it would be worth benchmarking more and worth using, but like I said, I haven't found anything on tri-channel DDR3-2000 compared to anything else.

Only people I've seen using DDR3 2000 in their rigs was guru3d when the i7 stuff came out and they were testing boards.

I can't imagine it would have a whole lot of performance increase.

well i have heard that DDR3 2000 at 9-9-9-28 is faster than DDR3 1600 at 7-7-7-20. and i am going to be getting some faster ram in the future. i have had my eye on this set. i need to get rid of this 1333MHZ stuff.

Really though dude, if your DDR3-1333 as decent timings, it's really no slouch.

Really though dude, if your DDR3-1333 as decent timings, it's really no slouch.

i think it was a andnadtech aritcle or toms hardware. cant remember. i'll see if i can find it.
my timings are 7-7-7-20 and i can overclock to 1600MHz on those timings too. it's very fast. but i want DDR3 2000 for better overclocks.

JESUS! Pr0n much? My jaw seriously dropped when I saw the speed that thing can run at. AT THAT PRICE! Ya know, since DDR3 is going to be around for awhile, it's seriously tempting to put off building a new rig personally, and waiting until I can afford those Dom GT's. But at the same time, I'll only be running an i7 920 w/ a gtx 260-ish. So I would feel like a fool paying $400+ for RAM. But my god. That's so, so, so, so fast. SO.....fast.

Wow, that's pretty sick. 1600mhz @ 7-7-7-20 from DDR3-1333 is pretty freakin good.

i think i killed them tho cause now they give crazy errors on memtest. so i have got to RMA them with OCZ.

they did clock all the way up to about 1735MHz once at 7-7-7-20

WHAT!!!!!!!!

And what were you running them at? 1.65? Is it that common for a good pair of 1333 to run up that high?

hmm, dont know. back when they were bought it cost like $240. now thier like $70

and these are platinum's. OCZ dont mess around with the platinum line of memory. i ran like 1.94V through them. so that's most likely what killed em.but OCZ says these can handle up to 1.95V and it is even covered under warranty. so i am going to RMA.
