Custom Computer-Both a Game and Work

I am starting out on building a gaming computer, but right now, I want to use it for work and school until I save up a bit more.

Right now, I am just trying to get the 'bare bones' in, hence my lack of a sound, graphics card, etc. I do plan on installing more ram and getting a solid state hard drive as soon as I can, as well as maxing out the case fans and getting a media reader. My budget is 600-900 for the parts listed below. I want to make sure, that for the budget I have, that I am getting the most bang for my buck and that the parts are solid.

I have a monitor, speakers, scanners, printers.

I know that a lot of users have said to go for an I5 and then spend on a graphics card, but I also want to use this computer for work and school, so I need it to be as fast as I can get it with the money I have.

Get the 3570k instead and an ASRock Extreme 3 Z77. You wont notice the difference between it and the 3770k, and it is faster than the 2600k.

For the money you have, you can then add a GTX 660 to complete your rig.

at $852 which leaves you 50 bucks for a case. You don't need such a huge case for this setup. These products run real cool, so you don't need a ton of fans either.

the case that you picked out is a full tower. full tower cases are really big. a mid tower will be plenty large enough for all that you need.

the wd velociraptor 10k was cool back in the day, but no point at all now that there is ssd technology.

intel handily beats amd. beats it like it owes it money. the i5 is fast enough for anything that you are going to do. in fact, with the exception of video encoding or photoshop or CAD work, programs are only go to use 1 core anyways, so even an i3 level will be more than most people need. as youre going to game, that should be where most of the budget goes into.

i would go for what pp listed above, or perhaps get a slightly cheaper cpu and mobo combo to afford a few dollars more in a case (that isn't a full tower.)

I can attest to the fact that a full tower is a pain. I have a full tower that weighs in at about 50lbs...
