"Jens was able to show some DX10 content, one demo based on the DX10 version of the Unreal 3 engine, really cool. But very impressive was a playable level of Crysis. Yes, it's downright gorgeous. I must say that a GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB was able to push barely acceptable framerates at 1920x1200, and no AA was enabled!"

Caution: This is algebra.

2.30 million pixels w/ GTX = 40 FPS ("barely acceptable")

1.31 million pixels w/ GTX = (2.30 / 1.31) (50) = 70 FPS (1280x1024)

1.31 million pixels w/ GTS = (2/3 GTX) (70) = 47 FPS (1280x1024)

This should clear up a few things, however, they did not reveal a specific number of fps, so I chose a modest 40 fps. ( assuming 60 would mean the GTS would push 70 at 12x10 res! so I'd rather be realistic...)

Also have to note that they've barely started obtimizing it so when it releases, it will perform better.

That probably is with everything on high. Going by what he's saying I would still say a single overclocked 8800GTX could play Crysis with everything on high in 1600x1200 and get 50+ FPS. Which is perfectly acceptable.

Absolutely.... I have a 1600x1200 crt but its totally overkill i think. 12x10 is perfectly fine, and since the GTS is 2/3 of a GTX, it would run 12x10 at 50fps, hopefully.

Yea sounds right. The good thing with CRT's are you can go out of the native resolution and still look good.

You guys have to realize 40 fps isnt that good, but a constant 70 would be accpetable, but for smooth gameplay around 150 would be smooth, but i dont know if i would settle for something as low as 40, jus my opinion

we're not saying 40 wer're saying 50+ while is acceptable.

You do realize that There is hardly any difference from around 70 to 150. When it gets high enough it doesnt matter.

I play all my games at a constant 76 FPS (have no idea why it stays there) but 76 is incredibly smooth for me. I've played oblivion at around 50 and it was fine.

Hmmm well i play fear combat alot and its a very intense fast paced game and if it ever drops below 150 i find it hard to concentrate when the fram rate stutters, i guess its a constant frame rate rather than the actual frame rate that matters
