ROFL!! Sorry comments like that make me laugh. Dont get either of them. its a waste of money.
I realize that they are both wastes of money. I even said that in my post, but if I was going to go with either, it woud be Nvidia because I like their products better. I would only go sli if a 7800GT got down to 6600 prices though, and i dont see that happening anytime soon.

Well, I think (2) 7800GTX 512MB's is a waste of money in SLI, But if you think about it this way, (2) 7800GT's in SLI would score much higher in 3Dmark05 then (1) 7800GTX 512MB. And I'm sure the overall performance would be better.

1 - 7800GTX 512MB = $749
2 - 7800GT's 256MB=$319x2=$638

So if cashing in on a $600 to $800 GFX solution is ok for you then the 7800GT in sli is probably worth the money.

wow thanks for all the help guys.. i think im going to end up getting 2 6800gs or 2 6800gt's 512mb what you think about those two?

get the GS, the 512 MB version of the 6800 isn't that great. Of course the GS is cheaper and you can unlock it to ULTRA.

No you cant unlock it to ultra, but you can overclock it to faster than ultra speed. Dude don't get SLI. 90% of the time a single 7800gt will beat two 6800gts. If your're going to spend that much money on a video card, get a single 7800gtx 512mb, or get a single 7800gt and get another one when you get the money, but seriously, if you get sli, it will make no difference at all in the 90% of games that arn't optimized for it, and it will only make about a 40% difference in the 10% of games that are. You're paying 100% more for a 40% increase, on a select few games that even use it. And don't get the 512mb 6800, it will just slow it dowm, because the card dosn't have the power to use all that memory. currently the only cards that have 512mb and can actually make use of it are the 7800gtx 512mb and the x1800xt.

ok well then you guys have changed my mind alot.... and i thank you for that... but i play CS and Source whats a good card out that will run both at 100 fps fine with no lagg at all?? i heard the x800xl 512mb version from fatal1ty is the shit.. true or no?

if your gonna spen that much money on 2 cards then dont get either sli or crossfire just spen your money on the 7800GTX 512mb

The X800XL is equal to the 6800GT, so again, it will not take advantage of the added memory, and it will actually slow it down. Like I said, the only cards that currently take advantage of 512mb is the 7800GTX and the X1800XT. Both the 7800GT or an X1800XL should run CS:S at 100fps if you play at a reasonable resolution and don't enable to much AA or AF (but a little won't hurt).
