Sorry Ste. I haven't chosen one yet - i'm not sure what i'll need if I change from the phenom to an e1260 @3ghz.

So overall - : S

DawnofDoom - Home electronic music production with Cubase or maybe Pro Tools. This makes me think I can downsize my spec.

I got carried away with the spec. The computer I need for music doesn't need to be so high performance. Can you recommend a processor level for working on relatively small audio projects?

the e2160 will serve your purposes till you wana upgrade to say a q6600

you will se a big jump in performance when you go to the quad. and the quad will render your music faster for you after you get it mixed

Ok thanks, i've just read reviews on the e2160. Others are overclocking it to 3.0ghz like you said and even higher. I'll do up a new list. Recommend any psu from Ste's list for a system with the e1260 overclocked to 3ghz, and any cooling system/fan?

change the CPU to an e2200, faster for not that much more
that mobo is NOT that futureproof
a p35 chipset board would be perfect for your build get one of these
IP35 or P35-DS3R
