Default Cpu motherboard compatibility

So I'm looking at asus/rog matx mb. It says support for 4th gen i3i5i7 processor. I'm wondering if my i5 3450k falls into this category. I will upgrade the cpu in the future but for the time being I'm wondering if this will work in that mb.

No. You need an 1155 motherboard. You also don't need an expensive motherboard like that anyways.

It's a slow build. Eventually want to be able to overclock everything. Getting things one piece at a time

Just stick with what you got until it's worth the money spent on upgrading. You don't need to OC your CPU for gaming right now. If there is any piece that would need OCing it would be the GPU.

Yea but I'm bored and it looks pretty and I have nothing better to do. Poseidon 780 with a nifty rad hookup etc just for kicks

Well, your money

Seriously though, you would really be better off spending that extra cash on a 780ti rather than a 780 and unnecessary motherboard. It's all about the GPU.
