Will the xigmatex rifle work on the new i7? or do I need to get a cpu cooler made for the new socket?

Not sure, it doesn't look like it would work...maybe there's a bracket somewhere.

You could always get the Core Contact with the LGA1366 bracket.

Newegg.com - Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2 - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
Newegg.com - Sunbeam CR-LGA1366 LGA 1366 Core I7 Retention Bracket - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

Total is 35 bucks after rebates, quite a steal with TX-2.

Pick up the S-1283V. Comes with the bracket.
