Default CPU Advice

Hi,
Iím about to upgrade my CPU, and need advice as for the best choice. The Mobo is the Geforce 6 100-M2 (v.30). It currently has the AMD Sempron 140 2700 MHz processor, and 2 Gig of Crucial PC26400 400 MHz RAM. Here is the list of what can be used: ECS Web Site
The problem I have is that I will not be using the PC for gaming, or overclocking, I just want a fast efficient machine for use with applications such as CoralDraw. Photoshop, Dreamweaver and other general applications. I have been looking at the 4 core AM3 processors but wonder if these would be OTT for my needs?

Your advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
