I'm just about to build a PC and obviously I want it to remain as modern as possible for as long as possible, but also to a budget. The main thing I use a PC for is gaming so its got to have a bit of grunt.

So the first thing I need to decide is which CPU to buy. I'd like at least a quad core but I'm not sure if to go Intel or AMD, what do you all recommend?

If you are on a tight budget you would do best to go AMD.

Give us your budget and we will see what we can help you put together to get the best bang for your buck.

My budget is about £1000, but thats for everything so I'm going to take your advice and buy an AMD chip.

Seen as I want this PC to last as long as possible I'm thinking I'll get a six core CPU.

Will this motherboards be ok, or should I be looking for something a little more expensive?

I would go with something better, but that site only has three to choose from. :( I can heartily recommend ASUS. Go with a 785 or higher chipset, and check with the manufacturer to make sure it is ready for hex-cores straight out of the box.

Incidentally, the hex-cores are awesome.
