im not sure which to choose over. one is 2.6GHz with 2x1MB L2 cache and the other is 2.8GHz with 2x512kb cache

Go for the X2 5200+, and just overclock past the 5400+.

Neither find an X2 Brisbane chip. They are the 65nm fabricated chips and overclock better and produce less heat.

I would personally get an X2 3600 and overclock it to 2.8 easy. Or out of those two get the X2 5200

Agreed with Sora. The X2 3600+ is more than $100 less, and can overclock the same as those two other X2 processors.

If you dont want a CPU that low stock then they make higher brisbanes like the X2 4400 or something if not higher up.
