Core i7 build, need suggestions

When I said could it be something else, I meant does another setting need to be raised.

No I do not have turbo mode enabled. I was told to disable it in this thread, IIRC. Yes I am using 205x20 to get 4100. My memory is at 1640. You think 40mhz over 1600 is what is causing the problem?

I will try enabling turbo mode later. I don't have time right now, got to go feed the cows. If I am able to get it stable, I will probably just leave it there. I will be happy with 4.1ghz.

What about the settings that have been changed? Should I leave them where I have them at or put them back to the original setting?

What about vdroop, what setting should that be on?

Thanks for your help, everybody.

gah this make me sad, you have the EXACT computer i want :/ i regret so much going with an AMD processor.

all in all how much did you spent on this build?

I spent around $1500 on this build. That is not counting the PSU and the dvd drive, I reused them from my old build. So to buy everything, you are looking at roughly $1700. I could have spent a whole lot more. I could have went with a GTX 480 GPU and an SSD drive. I just didn't want to spend that much right now. Maybe down the road, I will upgrade the GPU and maybe an SSD.

What is wrong with the computer you have?

I use Turbo, I don't know why someone would tell you to disable it.

Disable VDroop

I'm really not sure what settings your using. Can you copy the text below, fill in your setting (if you have them) and post them?

Ok, just try this. Shoot past 4.1 and go for 4.2
All you have to do is 200x21
That'll mean your ram will still be at 1600Mhz, so we can take that out of the 'unstable' equation.

4.2Ghz was what I ran my 920 at most of the time. Could you maybe post up a screenshot of the OC settings in your BIOS?

I use Turbo, I don't know why someone would tell you to disable it.

Someone told me in this thread to disable it, so should I use it or not?

Is there a way to take a screenshot of the bios or do I have to manually take a pic with a camera?

I will work on this later this evening, maybe an hour or so.

Here are the pics of the bios.

Why is my sig not showing up in this post? It is showing in my other posts in this thread.

Change the PCI Express Frequency to 105
IMO you should leave turbo mode disabled, at least until you get things stable.

Also, try what I said before. Change the bclk to 200, and set the multiplier to x21
As well as bringing down the memory speed, it'll also relax the QPI link speed a little

Well it seems that I am stable. I have been running Prime95 all night and it is still going. So far my max temp is 73 degrees on two cores.

Do you think I should change anything back? Should I try lowering the vcore any? Maybe put the ram timings back to what they originally were, 8-8-8-20-92-1. What about the ICH voltage and the QPI/VTT voltage?

I don't know if I am or not but if I try to overclock any higher, how do I keep my ram speed at 1600? Because it seems that if I go any higher than that, I become unstable.

EDIT: Why is my sig not showing up in my last post? It is no big deal, just wondered why.

There's a 'don't show signature' box you can tick when you post, you must've accidentally hit it
Could you post up what your QPI/VTT and vcore are at atm?

My cpu vcore is at 1.3625 and the QPI/VTT is at 1.335. What about the ICH voltage, it is at 1.2.

I am going to let Prime95 to continue to run and after I stop it, I might try to change the ram timings back to the original speed and see if it is still stable.
