Default Core 2 Duo/Quad prices to drop when i7 is introduced?

Is it likely that the prices of the core 2 duo's/quads will drop when these cpu's are released. I've been out of the loop for some time and no idea about these i7's until yesterday. I'm considering a new pc build, but then thought it may be wise to hang on a bit ??
