Almost, haha, my friend works in a computer warehouse, and he got two X38T's for free from his boss as a gift, so he let me have one, its a really stable board...so far. But its also nice cause the board has DDR3 Ram, so I can just transfer that over when I get my Maximus later on.

I just assumed you were getting DD2, didnt see that you were getting DDR3, so its all good

I just used the HD audio cable and ignored the rest. my board came with a soundcard, so it plugged right into it. I'm not sure if your board has on board sound, if it does i would assume you just plug your audio cable in the designated slot, or whatever the manual says
