I assumed you were making a server, but if this is a normal rig/gaming rig, screw the Dual CPU platform

What would you recommend for a Gaming motherboard, something around $350

and for processor, AMD or Intel. I heard AMD was better for gaming. is that true?

Well no..

That usually applies with cores, games right now can't handle Quads yet, but games are becoming Quad Intensive, so heres a good build for $1,200

Q6600
Asus P5Q Pro
HD 4870 Crossfire (or HD 4870 with HD 4870X2)
4gb DDR2 Kit
Case, HD, Optical Drives of your choice

But depending on which games you play this is highly overboard

EDIT: please don't Quadruple post, use the Edit Feature in the future, consecutive posts within the 24 hour period is considered Spam

EDIT2: AMD is currently slower than Intel in the CPU market (they overclock better too), so stick with Intel

Not if you want the Build to last for a while, like I said in my other post, Games are somewhat Quad-Intensive (as in they can load all 4 cores of a Quad-Core), games are going more and more Quad-Intensive, so for a future proof build that would be better

Indeed you should and if there were any members on this late, they'd probably agree:

1. Unless you plan on upgrading soon, stick with a Dual Now and upgrade to a newer quad later on
2. You don't plan on upgrading soon, stick with the Q6600
