I'm not sure if it's the E6600, but conroe has gotten 5.2GHZ

Anandtech took a E6600 to 4.0Ghz on rather high air cooling.

Most likely benefitted from the unlocked multi.

so would the difference between an x2 4200 and a e6600 oce'd to 4.0 or beyond be fairly significant? probly a lot but how many fps? probly hard to tell. god i want to break into intel and steal a e6600 and an x6800 right now. think of how much they would go for on ebay in a time of crisis right now.

A 4.0Ghz E6600? Are you joking? A 4Ghz E6600 is TWICE AS POWERFUL as a FX-60, lol.

Yes. that is correct. Almost exactly correct lol. somewhere around 5.6GHz of AMD. The FPS would be noticeable (double...go figure) with no GPU bottlenecking. But if your running a 7600gt at 16x12...you won't see any difference. you'd need the GPU able to handle the details but not run the game at reallly high res or ultra detail
