3)EarR
4)EarL
5)GND
6)LineR
7)LineL

any idea how to connect this..
thanks

Usually the plug can only go in one way. Like, there will be a missing pin on the header and the plug won't have a hole in that spot.

my board is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3p , and my case is the MGE Quantum.
as for the plug is not one plug its actually seven separate connectors.

The AC'97 definitions are clearer.

1 MIC
2 GND
3 MIC Power
4 NC
5 Line Out (R)
6 NC
7 NC
8 No Pin
9 Line Out (L)
10 NC

Not quite sure what the ear versus Line are on your case but this should get you close.

well isn't this setup for HD audio? i just don't know what ear and line is and even the mic vcc which the is power one goes!!! ideas

The next step in your manual is when case companies do not have the standard connectors to contact the manufacturer of your case. I looked at their site and it has no good info. I would email them and ask how to do it.
