I'd remove the SB live if the motherboard has onboard sound.
if it's for gaming, I'd go with the Athlon 64 3200+ Venice instead, with an Abit AV8 3rd eye (AGP) or an MSI K8N Neo4 (PCI-E). or if you want to overclock a lot, the DFI NF4 Ultra-D (PCI-E)
if it's not for gaming, then stick with the Intel.
the Nvidia 6600 is a much better card than the X600. the X600 Pro is actually about as comparable to the 9600 Pro/XT (previous generation card)
if it's for gaming, I'd suggest either get an LCD with a 12ms resopnse time (or less), or go for a CRT. CRT's are less expensive, and get better refresh rates and resolutions

haven't heard of that motherboard.
the Athlon 64's with a 1600FSB are actually socket 754. if you can, go for a socket 939. and look for a Venice.

the 6800 GT is a really good card.

remove the SB live, the onboard sound can be just as good, if not better, on a lot of boards.

go for the Abit AV8 at a minimum. the Abit AV8 is an AGP motherboard. if you want to go PCI-E (I would recommend doing so, for upgradability) I would suggest the MSI K8N Neo4. that has 7.1 sound, so you won't need a seperate sound card, even for surround speakers.
if you want to overclock highly, then go for the DFI NF4 Ultra-D motherboard. it also has 7.1 sound.

for the RAM, I would suggest either G.Skill with Samsung TCCD's if you're overclocking. or if not, then go for Mushkin or PQI. get 2x512 sticks, as they wil run in dual channel, and it is less expensive than 1x1GB

either go for a Seagate or Western Digital hard drive. they are really reliable. I personally prefer Seagate.

all the parts should be on newegg.com for less than what you've got listed

Few things:

Corsair XMS RAM is overpriced. Trust me, i have some XMS Pro. OCZ RAM is a much better buy.

That Aspire PSU sucks. Id recommend the OCZ Modstream 510 watter PSU

The aspire is good, it's 35A on the +12V, while the ocz costs twice as much and only has 33A. OCZ is a better company, but aspires are pretty reliable. OCZ ram is a better buy, but he didn't say he was ocing. Corsair Value ram, PQI ram, and many others are even better buys.
