I'm a prior geek, trying to get back to my roots. I haven't built a system in quite a number years and am looking for some reinforcement. I do a little gaming... I plan to dual-boot and/or virtualize Vista 64-bit in a Linux environment. I'm trying to keep my budget right around $1K. Here's what I've come up with:

Antec 900 case Newegg.com - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

ASUS P5Q Mobo Newegg.com - ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

MSI N9600GT (already have on-hand)

PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Thermaltake CL-P0114 120mm CPU Cooler Newegg.com - Thermaltake CL-P0114 120mm CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

LG 22X Optical Drive Newegg.com - LG Black 22X (CAV) DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X (CAV) DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

***Addition - I do have a 500GB SATA HDD I plan to use until I decide on 10000 rpm or RAID0.

I'm looking for compatibility suggestions and definitely cooling suggestions. As far as cooling goes, noise level is important to me as well (louder is not better :nerd: ).

Thanks guys. I went ahead and purchased what I originally posted. I went with the power supply I chose because of the PCI-E power included.

In relation to power... referencing the power supply chosen, how much UPS power should I consider?
