Default Clearing temp interent files?

I always just do it from firefox, but my mom said doing it thru the actualy computer will get rid of them better and make my computer run smoother. How do you do this?

my bad wrong section i just noticed

C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\Local Settings there should be a temp file and in application data it will have temp files :
