No, its like running half the game on one processor and half the game on the other.

4GHz might be a fair enough concept in this case, but its not that hard to think of it the right way, so lets do that shall we?

And of course one games become multithreaded both cores can be used to split the load meaning your processor is going to be powerful in a wide variety of enviroments for quite some time

Multithreading means executing two threads simultainously, one on each core. And each core is 2.0GHz (give or take depending on what you get), so yes, theoretically a multithreaded game running on a 2.0GHz dual core CPU should perform like 4GHz.
