All right, so im choosing a hard drive to slave to my main hard drive on my new computer.

here is my current rig (the important info as i see it)

ASUS P5Q Mobo
Dell Generic 80gb HDD \_ These are both tied
Dell Generic CD/DVD Drive / into a single IDE port

so i was thinking SATA, and i know my mobo has sata ports, but are they 1.0gb/s or 3.0gb/s? and would it be better?

and which HDD should i get?

Your motherboard has SATA 3.0Gb/s ports. I would go with either a Seagate or Western Digital it's your preference. Keep in mind to get a hdd with high cache sizes of like 16mb or 32mb, more the better.

IMO. 1tb for 140$ is crazy. When I got those drives 8mo ago they were over 400 lmao. Awesome hard drives too. crazy fast. I've matched benchmarks with the OLD raptors. Can't match the new ones but meh, these are big drives, they aren't really supposed to.
