Thanks.

I'm still debating if I should just purchase the 8800 GTS 320MB vs the X1900GT (rev 2).

I'm also not sure if I should purchase the Q6600 or the E2180 :(

tough choices, I don't know if my plan is good. If i should purchase budget and wait for price drops off premium products.

Get the E2180 from clubit. I've been researching them and I've also decided to go with one. They overclock like mad

8600GT is just slightly slower than X1950GT at stock speeds

XFX 8600GT has much higher clock than normal 8600GT. XFX 8600GT has speed of 620/1600 while normal 8600GT is just 540/1400

So, there is no doubt that XFX 8600GT would be faster than X1950GT

however the X1950PRO is around the same price as the higher clocked XFX 8600GT and it beats the 8600GT in games hand down, regardless of DX10. Stop your hardcore Nvidia fanboy ways.

For around same price of X1950pro he can get 8600GTS

Don't forget that 8600 series have much overclocking potential than X1950 series

The X1950PRO is 134.99 while the cheapest GTS is 149.99 with a MIR. I'm not a fan or MIR's anyway.

In DX9 when both are overclocked the results are close but the 8600GTS wins synthetic benchmarks while the X1950PRO usually beats out the 8600GTS in actual games, even when they are both overclocked.

In DX10 i will bet you don't even think about turning on the DX10 features because then the X1950PRO will kill the 8600GTS with FPS...

thanks, I'm actually debating now between the X1950PRO vs the 8800GTS (bang for the buck) or the E2180 Vs the Q6600.

I don't want to regret anything and I want to be sure I'm making the right choice with budgeting and waiting for the 45nm processors to drop or come out.

reassurance or advice would be much appreciated.

The 2900 PRO is what I would get instead of the 8800GTS...not much faster but a better "bang for the buck"

LOL ^^

X1900GT is not a DX10 video card

i think he meant for DX 10 game for a couple of years...... but there is no doubt that the x1950gt or pro would do better than in Call of Juarez than an 8600gt...

but if you overclock the GT... thats a different story
