Building a new pc for college. After doing some research I have made a cart on newegg with prospective parts. I would love for some double checking on my selections from you all. Checking for compatibility between parts would be great :) . I will be going Intel i7 w/ Vista Home premium and accepting the Win 7 free upgrade. I would like to stay around 2000$ More then enough to build a great pc. :) Thanks in advance!

Those all look like perfect choices to me, I would have recommended you use the Windows 7 RC, but if you get a free upgrade to the final release by buying Vista then nice!

I forgot about a cpu cooler! any recommendations? I think I will swap out the blu-ray drive for just a dvd player- any recommendations on that as well?

Personally, not a big fan of velociRaptors. Overpriced for the performance, especially at 300gb. If you want speed on an OS disk, get an SSD.

EDIT: This one is good. Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

+1.. Good deal on that SSD

Also maybe get the HIS HD 4890 that I believe comes with CODWaW for $190. Agreed with Yamikotai on using the Windows 7 Release Candidate and saving for Windows 7 later (I'd opt for the Professional edition just because it has the XP Mode) [if your board supports virtualization]

I would grab this now. It just came in stock while every other DVD burner has still been out of stock for the past week or two.

Im not sure about Sony DVD burners, but I grabbed it anyway.
