Default 'cheap' high performance pc upgrade

Hi, im looking to upgrademy pc to run current games, stuff like bf2142 with constant good fps on med-high settings. Im after a new motherboard, processor and graphics card, for a 'bargin' price, so im wondering what you guys was thinking would be good. At the moment ive got a AMD athlon xp 2800+, a Nvidia geforce 6600gt 128mb agp 8x and im not sure on the motherboard atm, ill find out asap. The motherboard i have is only agp and pci, so im looking for a good priced pci-e motherboard, and a nice processor to go with it, then a good graphics card.

Thanks guys

Okay. I would say:

Graphics card: 7900gs
CPU: (amd) socket AM2 x2 4200/ 4400 OR (Intel) E6300
mobo: dfi makes good socket AM2 boards, I dont know many good intel boards. They are socket LGA(775)

Now you will also need new RAM with either of these setups.

XP Pro | Vista Home Premium | Linux Ubuntu 7.10
s939 X2 3800 Toledo @ 2.6ghz | evga 7900gs | 320gig + 80gig wd | 1gb Ram | Abit KN8 SLI
3.1ghz achieved.

research the x1950 pro instead of 7900gs same price range but beats it in benchmarks
