Card recommendations? Something to upgrade from my X1900XT

I play at 1440x900 and COD4 uses about 380mb of VRAM @ full details and 16xQ AA and 16x AF

256mb is plenty for many games...but not enough for others.

sli 8800 anything will do well on crysis im hoping when i cross fire 3870's itl handle crysis maxed at 1280x1024 with no aa.

256mb memory is good for anyone who plays at only 1280x1024 or less and will probably upgrade within 8 months-a year. If you have a 19 inch monitor or less and plan to upgrade your card with a year the 8800GT 256mb will do just fine IN XP still 512 will increase the FPS for games like COD4 a little on a smaller res but thats only if you use 4x AA or so...with a 19 inch monitor I fully belive that 2xAF is the sweet spot on 1440x900 and 1280x1024...4x will not only take more VRAM but it will do it without making the game look much better at all.

the difference at 1280x1024 from 0AA to 2x is a large one while the change from 2-4x isn't significant at all I think and does not need to be used. If you use 2x AA and maybe 8x AA with your 8800GT 256 on COD4 there will be virtually no difference at those settings compared to a 512.

Basically what I'm trying to say is people test things at MAX graphics including 16xAA and 4xAF but you don't need that much and you can turn both of those settings down to where you will hardly notice and graphical change but still get great frames on a card with smaller ram such 256...

depends what 'good framerates' in crysis is XD 30 is all you need. im running crysis in 1280x1024 maxed out dx10 at 30 FPS and it doesnt even hiccup. wouldnt be any difference from 30 to 100. also depends on the resolution. im sure at 1600 2 gtx would work fine. 1900 3 gtx. I'm using no AA though. dops me from 30-35 down to 15 lol
