Thanks for the help!

Oops! lol my graphics card would be GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB 256-bit
probably get 2 of those

Get a 4870 rather then a 9800gtx or if you want to keep with the nvidia theme get an EVGA 260 216
Get a E8400 not quad as the C2D will be faster for most games
You also need a operating system

grab either a 9800GTX+ or a core 216 (Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N879-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards or Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1265-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards), as those will tear that GPU apart. also, get an HDD with a 32MB cache (WD Caviar Black or Seagate Barracuda 7200.11)... either the Core Contact Freezer or the Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme will be better performing coolers, plus the CCF comes with TX-2 and the Freezer Extreme comes with AS5 i believe

i'd stick with the q6600 if i was you, because it will OC quite well, and the quad will be viable for at least another year as more and more apps become multithreaded

other than that, everything will work just fine... just those few adjustments and you'll be flying!

I would change the motherboard to a Biostar I45 and the get a Hd 4850 since the I45 supports crossfire.

Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
+
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100244L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Also the recent batches of Q6600's don't overclcok as good as they used to so if you are planning on overclocking you may want to get a E8400 like saltynay rewcomended.

Actually an HD 4850 would be the best buy. For the price you really can't beat it's performance. A 4850 can beat a 9800GTX+ in most games.

Although the Q6600 is a good entry level quad, but they don't overclock as well as they used to, due to the higher VID. Like Salty said, your better off getting a E8500 or E8400. Both would overclock very well and would be better for gaming.

Edit: Ha, Puddle beat me to it.

I am glad you agree with my obvious genius :D lol If you want to go quad get a modern one like the Q9300 the Q6600 is only really a gimmick to get quad core the the newer ones are around 25% faster and E8400 would be best if your not a SERIOUS multitasker
