First of all, you can't unlock any pipes on a 7800GT. Second, a single 7800GT beats two 6800GTs in SLI in most cases. If you have the money for SLI, just do yourself a big favor and get a single BFG 7800GTX 512mb, which has clockspeeds of 580/1750, compared to the 256mb 7800GTX that has clockspeeds of 430/1250.

Umm... preformance will be the same... Ok, I will compile a $3K build here, hold on... What sux, is that my system was $3K, and now the one that I am going to compile for you for the same price will blow my PC away...

Ok, I have configured a MONSTER gaming rig here, this will utterly and totally ANNIHILATE all the compitition, short of having SLI with two of these video cards! It is just ever so slightly overbudget by $72, but it is worth it! It will also overclock like a mother once you decide you want to have some fun! Get it!! Here it is:

Case - Lian Li PC-65B Black Aluminum Case - $125:

Motherboard - ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe - $229:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131568

Video card - BFG Tech Geforce 7800GTX 512MB - $749:

Sound card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS - $270:

CPU - AMD Opteron 180 Denmark - $775:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103581

CPU Cooler - Thermaltake CL-P0114 - $65.99:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106061

RAM - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM - $259:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231034

Hard drive (x2) - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS - $261:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144701

Optical drive - Plextor 8M Cache SATA CD/DVD Burner - $118.99:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827131351

Power supply - PCP&C Turbo-Cool 510 Express / SLI - $219.99:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703001

Total cost - $3072.97

BTW, the optical drive does have a white face plate, but I have that exact one, and it comes with a black face plate that you can replace the white one with.
