The first one is a newer system more up-gradable, I would get it. The I3 should be fine for gaming but take the difference and save it for a GPU down the road and you'll have a decent gaming system. The other was a higher end but aged a bit. And the I7 would do you no benefit for gaming. Worst case you could get a I5 later on and have a real good gaming system.

I'm just curious why the second system has windows 10 installed already. It's not even complete yet. Wouldn't you have to factor in the cost of purchasing another OS?

I didn't even notice the windows 10, hes running the open beta for windows 10 which is free but once it's released it will not work any more. You WILL need to buy a operating system for that one.

Since win10 is only being released to "Windows Insiders", wouldn't it technically be a closed beta?

It's a Tech Preview.

Anybody can still download and install it - just requires you to sign into a Live account and authorize your account to be an "Insider" account.

Semantics aside, though, OP would need to add the cost of an OS to the 2nd rig to get a more accurate picture.

Yep - add $100 onto the price of the 2nd one for an OS.

If you can afford 800 bucks, get the first system and buy a GTX 960 and Seasonic 520w M1211 PSU.
