Ok, so I am trading my current laptop for either of the two potential desktops.
Here is the stats on my laptop:
2.1 intel duo
1gb gtx 260m geforce
4 gb ddr2
running 7

and here are the two potential desktops:
Thermaltake Armor+ Full Tower Case, Liquid Cooling Ready
AMD Phenom 8450 2.1GHz Triple Core Processor
HIS Radeon HD 4670 1024MB Video Card, Dual Monitor Support
4 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 Ram
ECS NFORCE6M-A Motherboard
XION 630W Power Supply
Dual-Layer Lightscribe DVD+R Burner
Phillips DVD Rom
Western Digital Caviar 160 GB 7,200 RPM Hard Drive
Windows XP Pro

and the other

Q6600 @ 2.40GHZ
Diamond ATI HD 4890 1g DDR5
Windows 7 64bit
3g DDR2 Ram
2x300gb @ 7200rpm
1.5tb @ 7200rpm
Antec 900
Corsair 750tx
G15
G5

with two monitors
Benq FP241VW ((1900x1200))
Dell Widescreen 19" ((1440x900))

What is the better gaming computer?
Also would I just be better off selling my laptop. I feel as if I can get $800 for it, then I could just build a desktop...

The second one is better, but how much are you going to pay for it? If you can sell your laptop for $800, and get another 200 from somewhere, you can build a computer that would blow those two out of the water.

I am making a straight trade for the desktop.

How much better will the second desktop preform in comparison to the first?

Could I piece together a much faster computer for $800?

You could build a desktop thats better for just under $800. Similar graphics two the second build but better cpu/ram etc and all brand new this way.

comes to about $775. the 4890 is faster then the 5770, but you should grab a 5770 if you plan to game using dx11 as 4890 does not support it. This doesn't include windows or a monitor though which i was unsure if was included in those trades, if the second build comes with a monitor its probably your best bet especially since it comes with mouse and keyboard too.

You would also want to change the ram since its got 3gb, it wont run in dual channel and will slow the computer down.
