Default Buying HP ENVY 700-215xt

Hello,

Normally I build my systems. The last one I build was about 5 - 6 years ago. I work with video files and need lots of power for rendering. It is time to upgrade.

HP has a sale on HP ENVY 700-215xt for $709.

Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4771 processor quad-core [3.5GHz, 8MB Shared Cache]
Intel HD Graphics [DVI-D]
8GB DDR3-1600MHz [1 DIMM ]
1TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
SuperMulti DVD Burner
15-in-1 Multi-slot Media Card Reader, 4 USB Ports (Front/Top), Audio [Front 2USB2.0, Top 2USB3.0]
Integrated Sound, Envy Audio; Beats Audio
HP USB keyboard and optical mouse
Wireless-N LAN card and Bluetooth®(1x1)
300W Power supply

I can add Blue Ray burner that I already have and maybe add a better video card.

Or I can try and build the machine. I would only need to get the CPU, main board and RAM.

I was going to go with the following:
MAINBOARD
GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com
(There is a newer version available: GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA
6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-H97-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com.

MEMORY
2x HyperX 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C10D3B1/8G - HyperX 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C10D3B1/8G - Newegg.com

or

2x CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 - Newegg.com

CPU
Intel I7-4771 3.5 3 LGA 1150 Processor BX80646I74771 - Amazon.com: Intel I7-4771 3.5 3 LGA 1150 Processor BX80646I74771: Computers & Accessories

What would be a good CPU cooler for that type of CPU?

What do you think?

I also just read that there are main boards with Z87 and newer Z97 and H97 chipsets. I could not find any reviews on the newer boards, so not sure if I should stick to the H87 or Z87.

If you want to move to the M.2 interface for on board SSD (Google for more M.2 info) then the 9 series is for you (Z97 and H97) otherwise the H87 or even a B85 would be perfectly fine.

Although, it's always best to stick with minimal amount of RAM sticks. So in this case instead of getting 2 8GB kits get an 8x2 kit. It'll be cheaper than what you linked anyways and give you 2 more slots to upgrade.
G.SKILL AEGIS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-16GIS - Newegg.com

Also what programs do you do for rendering? You might consider dropping some cash on a better PSU and get a nice GPU to help process. Just a suggestion. An SSD would also help greatly in overall system response.

Looks good, although I would look at the ASRock Z97 Extreme6 as it has a better M.2 slot.
