If it fits AMD k8, would it fitan am2 CPU?

actually the retention socket design for the HSF on AM2 is slightly different to that on s939. so you should make sure that it states it is compatable with AM2. i think AM2 uses 4 screws at the corners of the bracket instead of 2 central ones which also rules out using pre AM2 HSF's with an installed backplate
