Builing a new rig

I'm not in the loop atm, so I need someone to just be blunt and tell me which is going to be better for gaming. I am going to be playing Age of Conan next month, I want the best experience possible.


AMD or Intel?
Nvidia or ATI?

I looked the through sticky at top, but it only lists parts, not comparisons, for the buying. Just any help would be appreciated. I really don't even need much explanation. I'm just wanting a guide.

Intel for the high end, 1000+

AMD for low end < $1000

nVidia otherwise

now are you saying $1000 for the cpu or whole system?

How much do you want to spend. Intel is the best choice if you want to overclock. Nvidia is also the best choice if you want the best and dont mind paying a bit more for it.

Wow $1k for a q6600, x38, and 8800gts 512mb. That is an excellent build.
