I am trying to setup a backup solution from scratch for my company and i am running into a few problems.
Hardware I am using:
dell 2950 small drive form factor.
5- 2tb drives giving me 10tb
I had windows 2008, but because of my issues I am running into I thought using 2008 r2 would solve this and didnt. I would like ot use 2008, but if i need to use r2 fine. I just have the key for standard 08.
standard raid controller card for the server.
Ok so I hit ctl-r upon post and setup the Raid 5, installed the OS,
once in the OS I am in computer manager trying to allocat the total space to one drive it wont let me.
I have a partition that looks like this:
Why cant I assign both unallocated spaces to combine the space, so I have this as a total free space to backup to.
Please advise me on how to set this up in the windows enviroment, without having to buy anything. I have to make this work with what I have,
