Ok guys, here is the deal. I have $300 now and should have about $700 come June to spend. I want a dual core processor in an overclockable motherboard with at least a 7600GT. I was playing around on newegg and got this...

OCZ 1GB Stick 2.5-3-3-6 DDR400 - $85

eVGA 7600GT - $180

Leadtek TV Tuner - $42

Total Cost with shipping is $320

This leaves me with $380 for a CPU and Motherboard. I was thinking about the 3800x2 but that would leave me with about $70 for a motherboard after shipping. I bet the prices will go down because AMD is releasing their new line of processors come June but I am thinking ahead.

Any opinions?

P.S.
I already bought a case/psu, AS5, DVD-RW, Floppy, and a WD 80G sata drive.

so your budget will be about $1000 total?

i would just weight until you know you final budget and then post a "what should i buy" thread

An ocing, mobo+cpu, is gonna cost ya a little more the $380.

X2 3800+
DFI Lanpart UT nF4

Go for a budget of $710 and you can get a 3800+ and good mobo.

AMD Athlon X2 3800+

MSI K8N Neo4-F Mobo

this comes out to $376, Merry Christmas

You know, I thought about an MSI board but I was leaning toward the DFI-NF4 due to its overclockability, but I did get a 3200+ to 2.55ghz on one...

Maybe I will buy some now and get it out of the way so it doesn't seem like I am spending alot....

yeah you dont even need to overclock a 3800+ to have great performance, but if you do, the MSI board i posted will do just fine.

i looked around anandtech for a review of the MSI and DFI lanparty boards, and if all Lanparty boards overclock the same (cause i only found overclocking results for the SLI-DR) the DFI Lanparty overclocks 19% more and the MSI K8N overclocks 18% more.

MSI K8N Neo4-F

they tested a 4000+ and the MSI got it to 2820mhz and the DFI got it to 2856mhz, not much of a difference

Thanks for the information dude. $40 more does not justify 36mhz more of an overclock.
