Check out this article on PCI e3, Gigabyte claims it can provide pcie3.0 support on it's z68 boards without having pcie3.0 slots..

I would say go with the gen 3, worst case scenario this board wont work with the new technology, your out 60$ best case scenario it does, you saved yourself from having to buy a new processor/gpu when your planning on upgrading in the future. In plus you just spent 500$ on a SSD, whats 60 more $$?? Plus the gen3 is a much sexier board. I would have gotten it if it were available in Canada
