Hey everyone! My friend recommended me a build (budget of ~$1700 for tower only) and I would love some feedback on it.

Video Cards (two of these)
HIS Radeon HD 5870 H587FN1GD Video Card with Eyefinity

RAM
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

HD1 (for OS and other often used programs)
Corsair Force CSSD-F60GB2-BRKT 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

HD2
HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Power Supply
Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

CD Drive (Meh, this doesn't matter as much)
ASUS CD/DVD Burner Black E-IDE/PATA Model DRW-22B2S/BLK/B/AS (Bulk)

Case
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window

Motherboard
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO ATX AMD Motherboard

Processor
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

Any advice on how to improve this list (staying within budget give or take 10%) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ahead of time!

First thought: Why do you need 16GB RAM? Especially if it's only for games. 8GB of RAM or even 4GB will do just fine.

Second, if you want two 5870's, it only needs 600W for crossfire. To save a little more, I'd recommend:

Newegg.com - Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Which would work just fine

Edit:
You also might want a smaller case...you don't really need a full tower.

Those are just two that I searched while having "lots of fans" in mind...I don't know if you'd want LED's on the fans or not...to me they're just a waste of power...

Get a decent PSU. Corsair, Antec, OCZ, Seasonic are reputable brands.
I wouldn't get two GPU at the beginning, it limits your future upgrades. Get a more powerful single card like the Nvidia 580.
I would get 4GB now, more than enough for gaming and buy more RAM later on if needed.
With the money saved with on the GPU and RAM I would get a intel build, namely the new sandybridge cpus that will destroy that CPU.

Hey thanks everyone for the input.

From what I've been reading and from recommendations, I should wait until Sandy drops until I pick my CPU and motherboard.

I will cut down the ram to 8 gb (2x 4gb) and have decided to crossfire two 6950's.

I also decided to get a COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series RS800-80GAD3-US 800W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS ... as my power supply.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get an Intel i-7. Just a couple more questions! Should I just stick with an AMD? If I go Intel, does that mean I have to switch to Nvidia?

Thanks for the responses! I'm going to be ordering everything on Monday!

get a corsair power supply... i dont build computers with anything but Corsair PSUs.

if you go with Intel ( i suggest you do if you can afford it ) you can still go with ATI ( now called AMD ) Graphics cards.

This is the edited list. What do you guys think of this one? It is approximately 1900 and a little over my budget, but it seems solid to me.

If you guys can provide feedback tonight, I will be purchasing the parts after in approximately four hours. Thanks ahead of time. (Sorry for the long post)
