Hey! You guys may remember me; I asked a bunch of questions about a month ago on these forums. Since then, my budget for building a computer has increased, and this is what I now am looking at:

Fortron 500W $89.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104934

ASRock $58.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157092

Intel Pentium D $215.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116239

Crucial 1GB Memory $119.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146524

Will these all work together? If not, can you point me to something that will work in its place? Thanks so much.

Best,
xMist

can you recommend a different motherboard for me? what makes it yucky, so i can get a different one?

Wow. That DFI board is nice. Thanks! I'll go with that. So, guys, is this build a good one?

DFI Lanparty
Fortron 500W
Intel Pentium D Duo
Corsair 2x512MB Memory
Seagate Barracuda SATA 120GB
2x AOpen DVD-R
-An ATX Case (yet to be determined)
-Radeon x1600PRO AGP 8x card
-SB Audigy 4 Pro
-a 80GB IDE Hard drive
-a 20GB IDE Hard drive
-generic LAN card
-some other random fans and keyboards and I already have an 19" LCD and 17" CRT monitor running on my x1600PRO

Is this setup going to function? Is there anything I need to/should change? Thanks a bunch!

Only thing id reccomend is ditching a generic lan card and just use the onboard lan on the dfi board.

I also dont know about the pentium d 940 working on that dfi board. It may be as simple as a bios update, but if I were you, id call up dfi and check with them before you buy the stuff.

Remember, its always better to be safe than sorry with some non compatible parts, :D

Alright, I'll call up DFI ASAP. Is the power source compatible with the motherboard? Also, the ZipZoomFly site doesn't say what kind of RAM the DFI takes, so I assumed PC3200.

Is everything else good?

Also, is ZipZoomFly a reliable site? I've stuck to Newegg and have had no trouble, but Newegg doesn't sell this board. If I have a problem, will ZipZoomFly give me a replacement board?

Zipzoomfly is a very reputable company, i actually ordered that board from them. ANd ive used parts from them for many peoples builds.

They are local to me, so when they ship its like a 1-2 day turnaround

I had to rma a doa ati 9600 aiw card i bought from them. The replacement was quite prompt and the new card was perfect.

IMO you should wait for the conroes to come out, with the money your spending ont hat processor you could get a much better performance conroe. :)

When will the Conroes come out? I'm going to complete building this around late July or early August.
